Some good Browns of late eating streamers and above is Scott with a beautiful one! The ever changing White River is in pretty good shape for those looking to streamer fish and hunt for Big Brown Trout! The last few weeks the streamer bite has been up and down. Lots of empty redds in the river now and these Browns are coming off the spawn. Post spawning Browns get hungry but often there is still a bit of a delay before good feeding pattern start. This past week some of the Browns we have caught you can see and feel other trout in there bellies. Shane got this one on a Great Lakes Deceiver 6″ articulated in chartreuse/white glow.
Here is one Brown that has sure started the post spawn feeding! The belly got something big in it and I would guess a Rainbow.
On the White River water levels are everything when it comes to how the streamer bite will be. Currently today flows running around 10k cfs and the schedule is for it to be run stable all day. Stable is good but often it does not last long on this river. After rain and snow last week put water levels in Bull Shoals back over power pool. Most days of late water starts around 10k and then comes big push in 14-19k for 4 or 5 hours. These short blast of big flows have not been helping the streamer bite. Seem like the falling water behind them is best. Cold weather coming next week and I would guess they would run some water!
Been a variety of species of late a few nice Smallmouth Bass and some Cutthroat along with always Rainbows here.
Best action is typically in low light periods and late afternoons and the evening hour. Sure don’t give up in the bright sun mid day! Cody found this beauty and couldn’t been any brighter.
Top producing streamer of late: Great Lakes Deceiver 4″ and 6″ articulated, Dungeon, Double Fry, Viking Midge, Slop Mop. Top colors: rainbow, chartreuse, olive and cotton candy.
