Some good rains came to this region last week and it has been just ideal for the area! The White River has continued to run at minimum flow which is causing the lake above Bull Shoals Dam to rise. Only a 1.5 feet till power pool levels. What this means is water is being stored now. Once the lake hits power pool level, higher flows will come and typically it will be more steady. Could be coming at the prefect time for our Winter streamer fishing during the post spawning times for big browns. Currently in minimum flow nymphing is what is producing and fishing has been very good of late. Here is a photo from river guide Matt Millner on float trip yesterday! It’s all about the midges now. Root beer midge was the top producer. Other top patterns right now: ruby midge, zebra midge, micro egg patterns, pheasant tail and Sunday Special. Water levels will be at minimum flow all weekend. If some water comes next week time to brake out the 8wt, Great Lakes Deceivers and start stripping some streamers.

Matt will be working with us this winter on our group float trips. If your looking for a float trip now over the holidays contact Matt at www.risingriverguides.com
