The weather and water both have been up-and-down. The water has been pretty low most of the time with the exception of one to three hour bursts.

Occasionally these releases are 100 to 200 mw at bull Shoals dam and 40 to 80 mw at Norfork Dam. This creates a window for streamer fishing although nymphing the lower flows has been more consistent. Either way, the river is in great shape and the brown trout continue to thrive. Also due to recently passed regulations the rainbow trout and cutthroat trout should start to grow much larger over the next 1 to 2 years. Top producing flies have been Sunday Special, root beer midge, girdle bug and lots of small egg patterns. An ideal setup now is combining small midges with micro egg pattern or very small beads.
